David was told by YehoVAH to build an altar on Ornan's threshing floor. David then told Ornan of what he was commanded to do. Ornan's response was one of offering the threshing floor to David free of charge. Yet David's response is one of the most important of any imperfect servant of God in the Bible. He tells Ornan that He will not offer to God that which costs him nothing. This is the way of the professing "Christian" world today. It is full of people who claim to be followers of Jesus.. but who have, almost without exception, refused the cross He offers for a throne they can have now. They embrace the affections of their brethrenhood and stand by their cantos and mottos.. always refusing to acknowledge the truths which make living out Christ-following a real self-death instrument.. including the fact that Jesus is not God, but rather God's Son.. as well as both inheriting the lie that it's okay to kill your brethren (as was done into the Revolutionary War), or kill the unbelieving who have qualms against you (who refuse to love you first, but whom you refuse to love), or even the semi-popular notion that Jesus died in your place, playing out the role of the substitutionarily punished rather than the miraculous atoner. These three notions make up many of the lies that are told in Christian circles today.. where people who did originally believe in Jesus' being God's Son turn their backs by fortune and return to lies which satan has told as their means of advancement in the ranks. Do not expect that the lies you have believed were not the product of satan's discovery prior to your acceptance of them. Accept that his thoughts go much faster than yours, and that he has been devising your downfall and destruction from the moment he knew you were conceived. This is why so many children are killed in the womb.. not to destoy them, but to destroy mankind's hold on the sanctity of God's creations.. especially those made in His image. Mankind has evaluated and has His example. He sent Jesus to portray life as it must be lived in order that we are to live. To forsake this one true example.. even seemingly in a small manner.. is to invite judgment upon ourselves.. both in this life, and in the next. To hold tight to Jesus as our example.. for Who He is, not who we merely want Him to be, is the only hope we have in life. Do yourself a favor. Don't go.
